The real difference

Chatbase combines AI agents with Helpdesk. DobroDesk centers shared Inboxes and policy-controlled automation.

Chatbase combines AI agents, customer channels and a built-in Helpdesk with assignment, teams, customer history and human oversight. Its agent platform brings together instructions, data sources, procedures, actions, guardrails, testing and deployment across chat, email and voice.

DobroDesk combines knowledge-backed AI answers, configured guided actions and shared Inboxes with visible ownership, Teams, permissions and customer history. Workspace and Inbox policies can use manual, approval or automatic reply modes, while confidence and risk checks keep sensitive or uncertain cases with a person.

Both products connect automation with human support. Chatbase centers a multi-channel agent platform with Helpdesk; DobroDesk centers shared Inboxes, team ownership and policy-controlled automation for email and website conversations.

Calculated automatically from your conversation volume.

Default scenario: one AI agent with 3 AI replies per conversation (about 6 customer and AI messages). Extra action requests, drafts and retries use additional credits. Reply counts are editable planning assumptions.

Planning assumption for this volume: 10 frontline operators at 300 accepted conversations per operator per month for mixed email and support work. Capacity varies by case complexity and channel.

Reason

Why a support team may choose DobroDesk over Chatbase

Chatbase is a serious AI agent platform. Its public product covers data sources, instructions, procedures, actions, guardrails, testing, deployment and a helpdesk for teams working across chat, email and voice. DobroDesk fits teams that want explicit ownership, workspace-scoped evidence, human boundaries and a queue that remains trustworthy when the AI cannot decide.

Reason 1

Start with the queue when support work is the real job

Chatbase begins with an agent lifecycle: connect sources, define the role, add guardrails, test real scenarios, deploy across channels and optimize from outcomes. That is a strong workflow when an AI agent is the product the team is building. Its current public product also includes a Helpdesk for human work alongside the agent.

DobroDesk starts one level earlier. A support email or website message enters a named Inbox, the Team with access is explicit and the next owner remains visible through a handoff. The same conversation keeps customer and company context, internal notes, service targets and the reply path. AI drafts and answers sit inside that operation. Choose DobroDesk when the primary question is who owns the customer work, not only how an agent should answer.

Reason 2

Included teammates change the collaboration decision

Chatbase's public plans put limits on members and message credits. Standard includes three human members and Pro includes five. The pricing page documents $40 per 1,000 non-expiring auto-recharge credits, while its current public add-ons payload lists $15 per 1,000 recurring monthly credits, $25/month per additional human member, $25/month per extra AI agent and $99/month to remove Chatbase branding. Enterprise pricing is custom, but headcount above five does not by itself establish Enterprise. That can be a good fit for a small team where only a few people build or operate agents. It becomes a different calculation when Finance needs to check a charge, Engineering needs the original message or a founder needs to take an escalation and the team needs to model both human-member and AI-credit additions.

DobroDesk includes teammates and controls access through Workspace roles, Inboxes and Teams. A colleague can inspect context, leave a private note, take a permitted action or hand the conversation back without changing the support meter. Compare the people who need to collaborate on real cases, rather than an abstract agent count. Chatbase may still be the better value when only one or two members need the agent builder and its message-credit model matches actual usage.

Reason 3

AI evidence and human boundaries belong beside the reply

Chatbase documents guardrails, procedures and actions as part of the agent configuration. That is useful control: a procedure can ask for an order number, call an action and direct refunds to a human. Both platforms can use procedures and actions; the practical question is how the support team sees the evidence, risk and next owner when a case does not fit the procedure.

DobroDesk retrieves approved website sources, uploaded documents and other workspace knowledge, then exposes the supporting source, policy decision and selected action with the conversation. Billing, refunds, privacy, security, legal, abuse, deletion and clearly angry cases remain human by default. Low-confidence, stale or conflicting evidence also stops automatic sending. Choose Chatbase when a flexible agent procedure builder and its deployment surface fit the operation. Choose DobroDesk when the team needs a fixed review boundary and an operating trace around each reply.

Reason 4

Cloudflare-hosted text AI gives the data path a clear boundary

DobroDesk's current text-support AI runs through Cloudflare Workers AI. It uses Cloudflare-hosted open-weight models for drafting, classification and knowledge retrieval, while approved website sources and uploaded documents are filtered to the workspace before they become evidence. The text-support path does not have a separately configured OpenAI or Anthropic endpoint.

Cloudflare's current Workers AI data-usage documentation says Customer Content is not used to train AI models or improve Cloudflare or third-party services without explicit consent. Open-weight models do not by themselves mean that no data is processed by a provider; the documented policy is what matters. Chatbase also publicly says customer data is not used to train models, so the useful distinction is DobroDesk's text-support path through Cloudflare and its documented processing boundary. Voice is separate: its current text answer and transcription use Cloudflare-hosted models while ElevenLabs TTS is an external provider subject to its own terms.

Reason 5

Compare support meters with the work they actually measure

Chatbase lists a free tier and paid tiers with message-credit and member limits, plus Helpdesk, Voice and Telephony at higher levels. A message credit is not an accepted customer conversation: model, prompt and channel behavior can change how much work it represents. It would be misleading to turn the two products into a made-up cost-per-conversation estimate without a real workload test.

DobroDesk uses accepted customer conversations as its support meter and includes teammates, AI drafts and answers in the support base. Use a representative month for the decision: count customer conversations, collaborators, required channels and the cases that need a human. Keep Chatbase when its agent deployment, actions and broad channel surface create more value than the credit model costs. Choose DobroDesk when a support queue, predictable collaboration and a visible AI boundary are the work being purchased.

Reason 6

Plan a Chatbase move as a rebuild and test

DobroDesk currently has no native Chatbase importer. Treat Chatbase agent instructions, procedures, guardrails, actions, data-source connections, widget configuration and message history as source material to review while planning the new workspace. The two systems do not automatically recreate each other's setup.

The practical path is controlled: retain the source configuration, map approved articles to the right Inboxes, recreate routing and human escalation, connect the website widget and support address, then run ordinary, ambiguous, billing and privacy scenarios. Keep Chatbase live until ownership, customer identity, evidence, replies and handoffs pass the test. Chatbase remains the better choice when rebuilding its agent procedures and actions would cost more than the current workflow is worth.

Text AI hosted on Cloudflare

DobroDesk generates text replies and embeddings with open-weight models hosted by Cloudflare Workers AI. Approved knowledge is retrieved within your workspace.

Cloudflare states that Workers AI customer content is not used for model training or service improvement without explicit consent.

Voice has a separate processing path: speech synthesis can use ElevenLabs. Review voice and connected-provider terms separately.

When the queue gets busy

AI can handle the first answer without losing the owner.

The useful test is what happens when automation meets a billing question, an absent teammate or a customer who needs a human decision.

Inboxes make responsibility explicit

General, Payments or Orders can each have their own Team, routing, permissions and service targets. The Channel describes where the message arrived; the Inbox describes where the work is handled.

Knowledge and policy guide the next response

DobroDesk retrieves approved website sources, uploaded documents and other workspace-scoped knowledge, can run configured guided actions and keeps source, risk decision and action context beside the conversation. The model is not asked to invent a missing policy.

Policy controls when a person takes over

Configured risk rules stop billing, privacy, security, legal, abuse, deletion, angry-customer and conflicting-knowledge cases from automatic sending. Approved routine cases can use automatic mode when the configured confidence and grounding checks pass.

Make the trade-off explicit

Choose the platform that matches the work you want to own

DobroDesk is the stronger fit when

  • Email and website support need named ownership, queues, service targets and handoffs.
  • Every teammate may need context or need to act without buying another seat.
  • AI should use approved workspace knowledge, expose evidence and stop on sensitive cases.
  • You want knowledge-backed answers, configured guided actions and manual, approval or automatic policy modes in the same shared Inbox.

Chatbase remains the better fit when

  • The main project is building an AI agent across chat, email, voice and other channels.
  • Procedures, actions, interactive widgets, model choice and agent analytics are the daily work.
  • A small number of members and message credits match the team better than conversation-based support pricing.
  • You need Chatbase's existing agent deployment, Helpdesk and action integrations across multiple channels.

Before cutover

Rebuild the support boundary before moving customer traffic.

DobroDesk does not currently claim a native Chatbase importer. Treat the move as a controlled rebuild: retain the source configuration, connect the support address and website widget, recreate approved knowledge and routing, then run representative conversations before changing live traffic.

A clear way to contact your teamUse the real widget test to confirm that a visitor message enters the same support operation as email before changing live traffic.

What is not imported automatically

  • Chatbase agents, message-credit history and member configuration
  • Agent instructions, procedures, guardrails and action definitions
  • Source connections, widget settings and external integration credentials
  • Historical conversations without a supported source importer

Rebuilt and reviewed with the team

  • Approved articles and workspace knowledge mapped to the right Inboxes
  • Human escalation rules for billing, privacy, security and other sensitive work
  • Website widget, email routing, Teams, permissions and customer identity
  • Ten ordinary, ambiguous and sensitive test conversations before cutover

Current public facts

Compare credit usage, member limits and ownership together.

Chatbase's public monthly plans list Free at $0 with 50 message credits and 1 member, Hobby at $40 with 700 credits and 2 members, Standard at $150 with 4,000 credits and 3 members including Helpdesk, Voice and Telephony, and Pro at $500 with 15,000 credits and 5 members. The pricing page lists $40 per 1,000 auto-recharge credits that do not expire, while its current public add-ons payload lists $15 per 1,000 recurring monthly credits, $25/month per additional human member, $25/month per extra AI agent and $99/month to remove Chatbase branding. Enterprise pricing is custom; headcount above five does not by itself establish Enterprise. Model choice changes credit consumption, so message credits are not accepted customer conversations and should not be presented as equivalent. DobroDesk's EUR 19 base includes 300 accepted Conversations, unlimited teammates, AI and 3 active published Automations, with no Voice minutes or Phone. Text support AI currently runs through Cloudflare Workers AI using catalog model IDs and workspace-scoped Vectorize. Cloudflare says Workers AI Customer Content is not used to train AI models or improve Cloudflare or third-party services without explicit consent. This is a documented processing and training policy, not a claim that Chatbase lacks privacy controls: Chatbase also publicly says customer data is not used to train models. Voice has a separate optional path and should be assessed by its configured provider terms.

Questions that change the answer

Is DobroDesk a Chatbase chatbot alternative?

DobroDesk combines knowledge-backed AI answers, configured guided actions and shared Inboxes. Its policies can use manual, approval or automatic mode with confidence and risk checks. Chatbase combines AI agents, multiple channels and a built-in Helpdesk, so compare the two operating models rather than treating either product as only a chatbot.

Can DobroDesk import Chatbase agents and conversations?

There is no native Chatbase importer currently. Rebuild the approved knowledge, routing and review rules, then test the website widget and support address before moving live traffic. Do not describe this as an automatic historical migration.

Does DobroDesk send support text to third-party model providers for training?

The current text support path invokes Cloudflare Workers AI through the Cloudflare AI binding and uses workspace-scoped retrieval. Cloudflare's current Workers AI data-usage terms say Customer Content is not used to train AI models or improve Cloudflare or third-party services without explicit consent. The configured voice path can use a separate provider, so voice processing must be reviewed separately.

Is Chatbase cheaper than DobroDesk?

The meters are different. Chatbase uses plan limits, message credits and member limits. DobroDesk uses accepted customer conversations and includes teammates. Compare your real support conversations, collaborators and required channels instead of comparing the first prices alone.

Test the operating model

Run one ordinary answer and one difficult handoff.

Connect a support address, invite the people who need context and run a normal question alongside a billing or privacy case. The difference becomes clear when the team has to decide who owns the next action.
